Beau Carnes (b.1994) is a painter residing in Denver, CO.
My paintings are the convergence and exploration of digital construction and classical oil technique. I seek to explore the mood of online aesthetics, the nature of reality, and examine how objects and images make us feel. I translate compositions made from a mix of 3D scenes with flat lighting, slightly unreal sheens or textures combined with found images from the web using historical painting methods to create unresolved visual tension between the handmade and the machine-made. The work investigates how contemporary perception is shaped by constant movement between physical and virtual worlds.
