Artist Statement
Beau Carnes is a painter currently residing in Denver, CO. In his practice, he engages in an ongoing conversation between his adult self and the child he once was. Growing up, he became fascinated with Photoshop, manipulating images and weaving them together in ways that felt both impossible and intriguing. This early relationship with digital imagery profoundly shaped his artistic language, leading him to create pieces that embody a sense of brokenness and surrealism.
His work explores the realm of magical realism, transforming mundane objects and familiar settings into captivating visual experiences. By layering textures, colors, and images he invite viewers to see the extraordinary within the ordinary. Each piece is a dialogue between layers, where the visceral textures beckon the eye, encouraging an extended gaze.
Through this interplay of the familiar and the fantastical, I aim to create a world where the improbable becomes a source of wonder, urging viewers to pause, reflect, and ultimately find beauty in the complexities of life.
